Obscuro is a combination of events. 1st this is a celebration of the 9 year anniversary of Fuego Y Hielo's monthly social Mambo Mayhem (We started in July of 2024) and this will be our 9th annual Red Party. That being said we've turned these celebrations into a weekender where we bring other dance artists to teach, perform and social dance.
There will be two evenings of showcases and social dancing, two days of workshops, and a final after party on Sunday evening!
The name Obscuro means darkness and shows our thought process with this event. We aim to showcase black, afro-latin, and minority artists in this dance industry. If you don't know, Salsa, Bachata and most of Latin American culture has roots in not just Spanish or indigenous America but also Africa. But the contributions of the descendants of Africa are often overlooked. So we aim to correct that while also providing quality instruction, inspiring performances and a wonderful social dance environment!
